Long island Exotic Pets

Long Island is an important island in southeast New York, USA. It is 118 miles long with an area of around 1,401 square miles making it the largest island in the continental United States and the 149th largest island in the world. Justifying the reason behind its name, the island is much longer than it is wide, jutting out some 122 miles from New York Harbor, with only from 12 to 20 miles between the southern Atlantic coast and Long Island Sound.

Long Island has a climate similar to other coastal regions of the Northeastern United States. Long Island experiences warm, humid summers and cold winters, but the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean helps bring afternoon sea breezes that temper the heat in the warmer months and limit the frequency and severity of thunderstorms. Thus we can say that the island enjoys more or less an equitable type of climate due to its nearness to the seas. Measurable snow falls occur every winter with the accompaniment of mild blizzards. The climatic influence plays a major role on the zoological life as well. The animals that thrive best during the winter months include cats, ferrets, dogs, iguanas, cows, horses, and even elephants. Tasmanian Devils can also be found here; though they are an exotic variety in these regions their power of adaptability is quite strong. Tasmanian devils also have a number of endearing traits. The can be warm, cuddly, and even loving...unless they are startled, it is also wise to remember that Tasmanian devils are nocturnal. Another important pet for rearing whose demand has increased in the past two years is the bobcat; in the U.S.A bobcats are the most commonly reared animals as pets when it comes to rearing exotic breeds of animals.
