The choice of animal for rearing is contingent upon several factors ranging from financial to religious, from fun to time pass exotic breed of animals can be reared for a number of reasons. A common consensus can hardly ever be reached in which animals are worth keeping as pets and which of them are ineligible. For example for some people birds make the most faithful of pets while others may consider incarceration of birds in cage as a gross violation of the birds individual right to liberty and flight. Sometimes people are motivated to keep exotic species of animals with a view of protecting the endangered animals in a more secure environment may be because its natural habitat is not suitable for its safety and survival. 

For some pets are the instruments of earning a living while for others their pets are like their unborn children who have to if the need raises transported to safe and reliable hands. Take for instance if a rich family has fallen on bad times and it can no longer bear the burden of feeding their loved pet who being an exotic breed requires much care which involves much money will then have to be sold or donated to another family which is capable of taking the right care of the pet. This process of transference of ownership of a particular pet is called pet adoption. Usually most pet shops adopt unwanted or neglected pets which they in course of time sell them to caring owners.
