Exotic animal pets

The animals are an important part of the ecosystem that is functioning on our planet Earth. We human beings share our land, air and water which the earth offers us with the animal kingdom. Our existence in many ways is dependent upon theirs and even a slight change in their size and numbers can so drastically influence our lives. With the process of liberalization and globalization the earth became a smaller place to live for the discrepancies of communication were destroyed and it heralded a new era that in which everyone in the world would be capable of communicating with everyone else. This bridging of the communication gap has led to the exchange of many items between the residents of one country and the residents of the rest of the world. One aspect of this massive exchange was the exchange of plants and more so animals so as to provide them a better and more secure atmosphere and also with the view of breeding them in areas which lacked a particular species of animals.

Some of the most rare and exotic species of animals that are now reared as pets are the ferret, Pet skunk, Island fox, European Rabbit, Green Iguana, Tokay gecko, Cyclura Pinguins, Australian Green tree Frog, Philippine pond turtle, Wolf-dog-hybrid, Prairie dog, Acanthosura, Stormy Daniels, Norma Tallmadge etc.

This process of transport of species and exotic breeds of animals from one country to another to increase their numbers has also led to the process of hybridization. Hybridization refers to mating of an indigenous variety of animal with a foreign variety to produce a mixed or a hybrid variety of animal. This is done by biotechnologists with the view of getting the maximum benefit from the mixed or the hybrid product. Various domestic and national agencies are involved in this process.
